What we do

Since 1998 we have produced a one-hour recording of news items taken from the Wymondham and Attleborough Mercury, the Eastern Daily Press and the Norwich Evening News, with the permission of the copyright owners. We produced our 700th weekly edition on 23 December 2011, which included a specially-written play to celebrate the occasion. We also produce a monthly compilation of either magazine-style or information items. In addition we also produce audio versions of printed material for other organisations.

Originally we sent out material to our listeners on cassettes, but now we use USB flash drives and also publish our editions on this web site. These are sent to our visually impaired listeners free of charge, in a re-sealable wallet, under the Articles for the Blind concession provided by Royal Mail.

The wallets and memory sticks are subsequently returned by the listeners, again by means of the freepost system so that they can be re-used.

The service is run entirely by volunteers and is financed from funds received from a variety of sources.
